Bill Davis

Competence. Diligence. Experience.

William F Davis

After serving in the Marine Corps and finishing law school in 1968, William F. Davis began practicing business litigation with a major Los Angeles law firm. As a partner in that firm and later as head of litigation at a major Beverly Hills law firm, he tried jury and court trials involving corporate disputes, securities, class actions and defense of bad faith punitive damages claims.

In 1981, he became a sole practitioner and focused on representing individual investors damaged by the financial industry. He has arbitrated several dozen investor claims using the facilities of the New York, American and Pacific Stock Exchanges and, more recently, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He has served as an arbitrator for most of those entities.

He is admitted to practice in California (still an active member) and before the Federal, District of Columbia and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell since 1986.

During the 1990's, he discovered that mediating with instead of arbitrating against the major stock broker firms generally was a more favorable, faster and less expensive and stressful way to resolve disputes. It usually reduced the risk to a wiped-out investor of a zero recovery and frequently resulted in an agreement both sides thought to be reasonable. He started recommending mediation to his clients and participated in a large number as counsel for investors in California.

Bill Davis

After semi-retiring, the concept of being a mediator and facilitating reasonable dispute resolutions fascinated him. In 2016 and 2017, Bill took formal mediation training at both the Fulcrum Institute  Dispute Resolution Clinic and Northwest Mediation Center in Spokane and has since mediated dozens of cases. He is available for any kind of mediation but prefers business and securities matters.
